Dolor de muela

Our body changes as we grow and our mouth does too. In this case, the third molars, known as wisdom teeth, are the last teeth to grow. These usually develop between 17 to 25 years old, but they can emerge later, earlier, or never emerge at all.

On certain occasions, these molars emerge without complications, integrating harmoniously with your dentition. However, in other patients, wisdom teeth can cause painful discomfort, sometimes becoming unbearable.

Wisdom tooth, what is it?

As you know, wisdom teeth are the last teeth that appear in our mouth. Due to their robustness, the pain that accompanies their eruption can be uncomfortable. In some cases, these molars can impact against each other, adopting unfavorable positions that affect dental alignment.

Possible Symptoms

The most common symptoms are:

  • Intense pain or gum redness
  • Extreme sensitivity during brushing
  • Bleeding during brushing
  • Unpleasant taste in mouth along with bad breath
  • Swelling and jaw pain
  • Discomfort when eating or opening the mouth
  • In extreme cases, ear pain or fever

Tips to Relieve Pain

First, apply something cold to your cheek, near the molar, to reduce swelling.

It's also very important to maintain good oral health, brushing the entire area to avoid infections.

Second, analgesics can be used under medical supervision. The most common is taking ibuprofen.

A home remedy is to use a rinse of warm salt water prepared at home in a few minutes.
