Afecta la alergia a la salud dental-min

Spring has arrived and with it the dreaded allergies. Each year, this type of condition gains more strength, affects a larger part of society, and causes a higher number of symptoms in those who suffer from them.

We all know the most typical signs like runny nose, watery eyes, or throat itching, but did you know that it also affects oral health?

How does spring affect my oral health?

We have previously mentioned that one of the most common symptoms of seasonal allergies is nasal congestion and constant runny nose. This increased mucous secretion settles in the maxillary sinuses, just above the mouth.

This causes much greater pressure on the roots of dental pieces, which can end in pain, increased sensitivity, sensation of cold...

This nasal congestion makes us unconsciously breathe through the mouth, which dries it excessively. This dryness combined with lack of saliva can favor the appearance of cavities, bacteria, gum inflammation, or bad breath.

So... How can I take care of myself?

One of the key steps to feel better during those months is to hydrate a lot. You can gargle with salt water to better control bacterial proliferation. Maintain or increase daily tooth brushing and, if necessary, use air purifiers.

If you do all that and include dentist visits, you'll feel a great difference, improving your general health during the spring season.
